Safeguarding and Child Protection

At Pennine, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We are dedicated to ensuring that every pupil is safe, healthy, and well cared for. Our practice follows all national guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE).

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Deputy DSL are highly trained and oversee all safeguarding across the school. They work closely with staff and, when needed, with the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO). Every member of staff receives regular safeguarding and child protection training, refreshed each year, so that everyone knows how to respond promptly and appropriately to concerns.

We work in partnership with a range of agencies to help keep pupils safe. All staff understand the steps to take when they are worried about a child. If we believe a pupil may be at risk of abuse or neglect, we have a legal duty to make a referral to the relevant services. Where local procedures allow and where it is safe to do so, we will inform parents or carers. We will always share relevant information and support any assessments required.

If a pupil, parent, carer, or member of staff has even a small concern about a child’s wellbeing or safety, we encourage them to talk to us. Sharing worries early can help protect a child and, in some cases, save a life.

For more details, please see our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy, available on our website and from the school office on request.
