Pennine is a new independent special school in Todmorden for children and young people aged 10–18 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. We understand that choosing the right school is an important decision, and our focus is on creating a calm, nurturing environment where every pupil is supported to succeed.

Ofsted Pre-Registration Inspection

We are pleased to share that Pennine School has now completed its Ofsted pre-registration inspection. The inspection concluded that:

“The school is likely to meet all the independent school standards when it opens.”

Inspectors recognised the school’s strong moral purpose and clear vision, noting that leadership places “pupils’ emotional wellbeing and safeguarding at the heart of the school’s offer” and that the curriculum is carefully designed to meet pupils’ individual needs
The report highlights:

• A broad and balanced curriculum, with a strong focus on literacy, numeracy and PSHE

• Carefully planned individual transitions and baseline assessments

• A nurturing environment designed for pupils who may have experienced disrupted education

• Robust safeguarding, behaviour and welfare arrangements

• High expectations for pupils’ progress towards functional skills, GCSEs and post-16 pathways.
